Media Briefing on May 11, 2017

The Audit Commission recently disclosed that some NGOs run commercial hotel for profit making, on sites granted to them at a concessionary land premium. The Federation of Hong Kong Hotel Owners severe accused the NGOs for exploiting a policy loophole and express our disappointment on the ignorance from the Government Department.

The Executive Director Mr Michael LI and the 1st Vice Chairman Ms. Belinda YEUNG accused that The Federation had reflected the issue to the Lands Department and the Department promised to have appropriate operations and actions to stop the loophole is unrealized till now. The unregulated practice had caused unfair competition in the market and hurt the profitability of ordinary hotel owners.

The Federation would like to raise attention of the public and hope to have a proper response from the Government by taking actions.
